Turning

You caught the rain
smiled at it
like you held a snow-flake,
that time
when we saw the sun set
taking with it myriad thoughts
of the whole fleeting moment.
How slow was the gait of
the ticking clock,
and yet
that day vanished in
quick-silver lightening
leaving us to see the world
wrapped in the night sky
that descended upon promises
like an enchanting verse.
The stars can be terse sometimes
beautiful, concise like your
brown old copy-
the one where you coloured your dreams-
then
looked at it in nonchalance,
believing them to be unreal.

And, after so many years of waiting
you grasped that drop, again
like it would be the last season
you walked upon this parched Earth.
